The past year should have been everything I'd ever dreamed. Why, then, did I feel like something was missing?

Things have been quiet for Carrie Summers and her boyfriend, Gavin Manning, since they took down Gavin's business partner for kidnapping and sex trafficking, among other things. Carrie is working as a pro bono lawyer, fighting for abused and exploited people, and Gavin has been hard at work changing Club Privé into a dance club. In all their hard work, however, they've lost the spark between them. Could a trip to the French Rivera be just what they need to bring the life back into their relationship...and their club?

Don't miss French Connection, book 5 of M.S. Parker's Club Privé, featuring her first red-hot couple, Carrie and Gavin.

French Connection Club Prive Book 1 edition by M S Parker Literature Fiction eBooks

This is your basic story about an over-achieving yet unlucky in love girl, Carrie, who doesn’t realize her own potential. Fortunately, peer pressure to dress provocatively, wear some makeup, and do something with her hair lands her square in the path of wealthy playboy Gavin. Club Prive is predictable, but interesting enough for me to want to finish the book. However, had I known the investment I was making, I would have skipped this book altogether (I refuse to call it a series).
I get that writers want to serialize their books and use “cliff-hangers” to capitalize on their writings. However, that method implies that there are several books in one series. The title of Club Prive Book 1, Book 2, etc. implies that these are books when, in fact, they are not. Each “book” contains a handful of chapters that, when added together, make one typical e-reader length book. I think it was the way that the book just ended essentially mid-chapter made me want to keep buying them to see where the story went.
Essentially, it’s an amusing enough story, but, in my opinion, so not worth the $9.96 for the whole book. I will be avoiding MS Parker from now on.

OMG WHAT A F’ING CLIFFHANGER!

To know MS Parker’s work is to love it. When I saw yet another serial from her, of course I had to read it! I’m truly hooked! This first volume is the great beginning to start the serial. Leaves you wanting more!

Gavin will melt your panties off with just a look. That man is delicious. Fortunately for Carrie, he only has eyes for her. Though their relationship has hit a stale dry spell. They both have been working hard and have let their relationship fall behind. They both desperately want to reconnect and rekindle the fire they once had, but neither can find the time nor energy.

When an opportunity comes knocking for Gavin, he sees it as the perfect opportunity for him and Carrie to get some much needed alone time. Will Carrie take the time away from her very busy schedule to be with Gavin? Gavin sacrificed a part of him to be with Carrie but that part of him is becoming harder and harder to supress. Will this opportunity make or break our young couple?

The first volume is classic MS Parker. It’s filled with hot and steamy scenes. I had to fan myself a few times. The story is building up to be a great one. Lots of intrigue go along with the hot and steamy. The book pulls you in and by the time you get to the cliffhanger, you are addicted. Speaking of the cliffhanger, I was ready to pull my hair out!!! The book is well written and wonderful. Go 1-click today!
This is a five part series and I stopped at book three.

In the first book Carrie approaches Gavin in a NY bar as a bet. The next thing she knows he is popping up at her work with a friend who is a potential client of her divorce attorney boss. After a quick lunch together, she decides her life is too complicated and there is no room for romance. But she runs into Gavin yet again at a club opening. Wham, bam. They have sex.

Throughout the next two books, they continue to have sex and even though no official discussion occurs they seem to be on their way to being a couple. Only problem is she doesn't totally trust him as she catches him in lies, and finds his friend to be a pretty slimy character hiding a possibly big secret. Oh, and Gavin owns a sex club, but it really is never apart of the first three of five books.

So, I gave this series a try. I didn't get much out of book 1 so I kept going. Book two ended on a little of a cliff, so I continued onto book 3. While the book was decently written, I was just turned off by a couple things. First off, I get it. I don't need any more inner musings or re-hashing, Gavin has a big penis. Enough already with it. Next, their relationship seemed tedious to me. They did nothing but have sex, however, it was mentioned during several inner monologues by Carrie that "they have talked" yet this never occurs in the book. I guess we are supposed to gleam from this that even though boring sex occurs repeatedly, the readers are being saved from boring get to know you conversations.

With two books left in the series, I don't see how it can redeem itself and at this point I am actually a little bored. So I will stop here at the end of book three. There was just nothing spectacular about this series. Not the sex, not the characters, nor the plot.
Book 1 is more like a teaser than anything else. I'm on the fence with this so far. Why does Carrie have the right do get so indignant over what Gavin withheld from her. They had a one night stand, not a long drawn out love affair. I must admit his showing up everywhere she is seems a little creepy but she could have always said no to spending the night with him. And what was with Gavin's neediness after sleeping with Carrie once? The whole thing is a little far fetched but I'll probably read on. I think all these small novellas could have been combined into one book rather than stringing readers along. If I hadn't gotten the set on sale, I probably wouldn't have bothered past this first book.
